About the funder
The Carl-Toepfer-Stiftung is a non-profit and charitable foundation under civil law, founded in 1936 and based in Hamburg. It supports monument and heritage preservation, for example through the restoration of historic residential complexes and the establishment of museums such as the Brahms Museum; art, science, and culture through awards (Emmele-Toepfer Donation, Fritz Reuter Prize) and events in the Lichtwark Hall; the Low German language and literature (maintenance of the Low German Library, Low German Book Fair, "Low German Book of the Year"); youth promotion and charitable activities (projects for disadvantaged children and young people, homeless aid) as well as the creation and allocation of affordable housing for senior citizens in its own residential complex.

Mission & Vision
The Carl-Toepfer-Stiftung is committed to preserving cultural heritage and promoting contemporary projects in art, science, and culture. Target groups
The funding programs of the Carl-Toepfer-Stiftung are aimed at initiatives and organizations involved in monument and heritage preservation as well as private and public sponsors of historical conservation projects; artists, scientists, and cultural workers in Hamburg and Northern Germany; actors in Low German language and literature (libraries, publishers, organizers); children and youth in socially disadvantaged areas, schools, and youth facilities; non-profit and charitable projects such as homeless assistance; and senior citizens in need of affordable housing.
