About the funder

The Corona Foundation was established in 2008 by a private individual and is affiliated with the Donors' Association for the Promotion of Sciences and Humanities in Germany. It supports science and research in the fields of cardiovascular and neurovascular diseases as well as polyarthritis. Through its program lines "Research Group Cardiovascular and Neurovascular Diseases" and "Young Scientists Grant," it assists outstanding early-career researchers in conducting structurally innovative and translational research projects to develop new therapeutic approaches for heart and brain diseases.

Mission & Vision

Under the motto "Research for Heart and Brain," the Corona Foundation supports excellent, innovative, and interdisciplinary research approaches at the interface between preclinical and clinical research. The goal is to provide talented scientists with freedom and resources to establish independent research groups in the long term and to improve the care of patients with cardiovascular and neurovascular diseases.

Target groups

The funding programs of the Corona Foundation are aimed at basic scientists in medicine and related disciplines with clinical relevance, as well as physicians working at medical faculties in Germany. Special focus is placed on postdocs and early-career researchers who wish to conduct independent, innovative projects in translational cardiovascular and neurovascular research.
