About the funder
In autumn 2000, the "Deutsche Shakespeare-Stiftung" was established as a civil law foundation based in Weimar. Its purpose is to promote the work of the Deutsche Shakespeare-Gesellschaft e.V., support its foundation objectives through the awarding of prizes and grants, and in particular to confer the Martin-Lehnert Prize. The foundation is recognized as a non-profit organization and is financed through donations and endowments.

Mission & Vision
The Deutsche Shakespeare Foundation aims to support the scholarly and cultural engagement with the works of William Shakespeare in the German-speaking region.
