Dieter Mennekes-Umweltstiftung

Private foundation

About the funder

The Dieter Mennekes Environmental Foundation (DiMUS) was established in September 1999 by Dieter Mennekes as an independent foundation under civil law, based in Kirchhundem. The initial foundation capital amounted to one million Deutsche Marks, funded through private earmarked endowments from the founder. According to the statutes, the focus is on promoting environmental and nature conservation, local heritage preservation, and education. Through testamentary appointment as sole heir, the assets increased significantly after the founder's death in April 2020. DiMUS supports projects such as close-to-nature forest management, wilderness areas, monument protection (e.g., half-timbered houses), educational and school award initiatives, and is also engaged in non-smoking protection and sports activities.
