About the funder

The Dietmar Hopp Stiftung gGmbH is a non-profit limited liability company founded in 1995 by SAP co-founder Dietmar Hopp. It is headquartered in St. Leon-Rot and supports projects in the fields of medicine, education, social affairs, youth sports, and climate protection in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. The foundation's capital mainly consists of SAP shares contributed by the founder. In its first 25 years, funding commitments exceeding one billion euros have been made. Major engagements include the support of research projects in oncology and pediatrics, educational and physical activity initiatives for children and youth, intergenerational social projects, youth sports promotion, as well as the establishment and operation of the Klima Arena in Sinsheim.

Our mission is to support nonprofit organizations that, through exemplary projects, create sustainable momentum in medicine, education, social affairs, youth sports, and climate protection, thereby improving the quality of life in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region in the long term.

Target groups

Funding is provided to legal entities under public or private law with proof of non-profit status in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region. Target groups include clinics, research institutes, and universities in the medical field, daycare centers, schools and educational institutions, social facilities, hospices and intergenerational projects, sports clubs and youth organizations (with a focus on football, handball, ice hockey, and golf), as well as climate protection initiatives and extracurricular learning venues such as the Klima Arena.
