About the funder
The Dr. Walter and Margarete Cajewitz Foundation is a non-profit, charitable foundation under private law, established on the real estate assets of the Hanoverian entrepreneurial couple Cajewitz. Since 1978, it has supported projects aimed at assisting elderly people, initially in Hanover and, since 1989, primarily in Berlin-Pankow. Its main focuses include the operation of six senior-friendly residential centers ("Social Service Housing"), intergenerational encounters (e.g., Pankow Orphanage Conversations), an extensive cultural and events program, as well as the publication of a series of writings on aging-related topics.

Mission & Vision
The Dr. Walter and Margarete Cajewitz Foundation is committed to preserving dignity in old age. It supports holistic living, communication, and assistance concepts that enable older people to experience autonomy, security, and cultural participation. Through intergenerational dialogues, social services, and scientific publications, it aims to contribute to the quality of life in the third and fourth stages of life.
Target groups
The funding offers are aimed at senior citizens in the third and fourth stages of life (from approximately 65 years of age) who wish to live independently in senior-friendly housing and have an interest in cultural, social, and intergenerational activities. Additionally, non-profit organizations and stakeholders planning or implementing projects for older adults are addressed.
