About the funder

The Dr. Werner Jackstädt Foundation is an independent, non-profit foundation under civil law based in Wuppertal. It was established in autumn 2002 by Dr. h.c. Werner Jackstädt and commenced its activities in 2003. The purpose of the foundation is the targeted promotion of science and research in the fields of medicine and business administration, as well as the support of cultural and social projects in Wuppertal. Furthermore, it is committed to the beautification of the cityscape and the strengthening of the cultural and social life of the founder’s hometown.

Mission & Vision

The Dr. Werner Jackstädt Foundation aims to support outstanding scientific research in medicine and economics while simultaneously promoting cultural and charitable initiatives in Wuppertal. It seeks to strengthen innovative projects that advance the common good and sustainably improve the quality of life in the region. The foundation places great importance on fostering young talent, international networking, and the implementation of creative, forward-looking ideas.

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at researchers in the fields of ophthalmology, nephrology, and oncology, as well as students and university institutes of business administration. Furthermore, early-career researchers in medicine and economics who advance innovative projects are supported. In addition, the foundation promotes cultural and social initiatives as well as non-profit associations in Wuppertal that implement measures shaping the cityscape and welfare services. Universities and research institutions in the German-speaking region that offer endowed chairs, fellowships, and international courses are also included.
