Duisburg-Essener Universitäts-Stiftung

Public foundation

About the funder

The Duisburg-Essen University Foundation was established in 2007 as the first German foundation funded by tuition fees from the University of Duisburg-Essen. It provides financial resources outside of public budgets to sustainably improve teaching and study conditions. Currently, the focus is on supporting students in unforeseen emergencies, whose continuation of studies would be at risk without grants. The funding measures are financed from the returns on the foundation’s assets. Additionally, the foundation solicits donations and endowments to ensure the long-term continuation of its successful work.

Target groups

The foundation is aimed at students of the University of Duisburg-Essen who have fallen into unforeseen financial hardship and would be unable to continue their studies without external support. The goal is to enable these students to successfully complete their studies through scholarships, thereby promoting equal opportunities.
