About the funder
Since 1990, the funds of the Edgar Michael Wenz Foundation have primarily supported research and teaching in the fields of sociology of law, legal theory, and philosophy of law, including their interdisciplinary connections. Furthermore, the foundation supports the technical equipment and expansion of the library of the Law Faculty at the University of Würzburg. A special funding format is the "Würzburg Lectures on Philosophy of Law, Legal Theory, and Sociology of Law," the results of which have been published in 52 volumes to date.

Mission & Vision
The goal of the Edgar Michael Wenz Foundation is to strengthen excellent research and teaching in the field of law, to promote interdisciplinary dialogues, and to ensure the long-term transfer of knowledge and methods in the areas of sociology of law, legal theory, and philosophy of law.
Target groups
Funding is provided to researchers and students of the Law Faculty at Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg who work in the fields of sociology of law, legal theory, and philosophy of law. Teaching staff and research groups developing interdisciplinary approaches between legal studies and related disciplines also benefit.
