Edith-Stein-Schulstiftung des Bistums Magdeburg
About the funder
The Edith Stein School Foundation of the Diocese of Magdeburg is a church foundation and the largest independent school authority in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Founded on January 1, 2003, by Bishop Leo Nowak with initial funding of two million euros, it serves as the legal sponsor of eight general education schools at five locations (Magdeburg, Halle (Saale), Dessau-Roßlau, Haldensleben, and Oschersleben). Under the umbrella of the school foundation, over 250 teachers educate more than 3,000 students in four primary schools, one secondary school, and three grammar schools.
The foundation promotes interdenominational dialogue – in the grammar schools, for example, through an almost equal proportion of Catholic, Protestant, and non-baptized students – as well as the integration of migrants in accordance with Christian values and social engagement within the Diocese of Magdeburg.
