About the funder

Free The Children Kinderfonds Foundation is a non-independent foundation managed in trust by the Kinderfonds Foundation, established in 1998. It enables children and young people in Germany to collect donations against child labor and to support educational projects in West Bengal, India. The focus is on the operation and expansion of the Nivedita School in the Parganas district, providing former child laborers with a future perspective through school attendance. Through benefit concerts, information booths, and activities by school classes, the foundation raises public awareness of children's rights and actively campaigns against exploitation.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is to sustainably combat poverty and exploitation of children through educational support. We firmly believe that education is the key to the self-determination of young people. Through our foundation, we create a platform where children and adolescents in Germany can engage, raise funds, and thereby help their peers in India lead a life of dignity.

Target groups

The funding programs are aimed at children and adolescents in Germany who, as school classes, youth groups, or individuals, advocate for children's rights and organize fundraising campaigns; donors who enable attendance at the Nivedita School through contributions (from five euros monthly); as well as former or at-risk child laborers in West Bengal/India, who are to be lifted out of the vicious cycle of poverty in the long term through educational opportunities.
