Fritz Behrens-Stiftung

About the funder

The Fritz Behrens Foundation is a non-profit foundation under civil law based in Hanover, established in 1923 on the basis of Fritz Behrens' will. Since then, it has aimed to create lasting positive impact and to close societal gaps that the welfare state does not or insufficiently cover. The foundation supports social institutions (e.g., hospice care, child protection association, children's home), science and research (established trauma outpatient clinics, tissue projects at the MHH, cancer research), art and culture (long-term loans to museums, loan instruments for music students), as well as future-oriented individual projects with sustainable revenue models. Additionally, it awards science prizes endowed with €30,000 and has recently launched the JUGENDPREIS FRITZ for voluntary engagement by young founders.
