About the funder

The Goldbeck Foundation is an independent non-profit foundation under private law based in Bielefeld. It was established on April 1, 2009, on the occasion of Ortwin Goldbeck’s 70th birthday by him and his sons Jörg-Uwe, Joachim, and Jan-Hendrik Goldbeck. The foundation’s activities focus on the promotion of science and research, art and culture, as well as education and social affairs. It places special emphasis on young people – on the one hand, those who require additional support due to social or educational disadvantages, and on the other hand, those with outstanding potential who can shape our society in the future. The Goldbeck Foundation sees itself as an expression of the entrepreneurial family’s social responsibility and acts according to the values of humanity, solidarity, and environmental preservation. Its primary area of activity is East Westphalia-Lippe, but it operates throughout Germany and beyond.

Mission & Vision

The Goldbeck Foundation aims to advance social development through targeted support of projects and talents. Our goal is to enable equitable education and to support both disadvantaged and gifted young people equally. Furthermore, we promote research, art, and culture as contributions to a diverse and sustainable society. In all our actions, we act responsibly towards our home region and our environment.

Target groups

Non-profit organizations, initiatives, and projects whose purposes align with the foundation's objectives in the fields of science and research, art and culture, as well as education and social affairs, are supported. A valid tax exemption certificate from the tax office, including authorization to issue donation receipts, is required. The current focus region is East Westphalia-Lippe, but the foundation also provides support nationwide and occasionally internationally. Projects that create sustainable and equitable educational opportunities for children and youth from socioeconomically disadvantaged, educationally underserved, or newly immigrated families, as well as initiatives with outstanding potential among young people, are particularly encouraged.
