About the funder
The non-profit Grey Parrot Foundation is committed nationwide to the protection and welfare of African Grey Parrots (Psittacus erithacus). It operates its own rescue centers and a model facility for 14 grey parrots, provides advice on species-appropriate care and nutrition, conducts educational work on aspergillosis and behavioral problems, and places orphaned or surrendered birds with suitable owners. The foundation advocates for a ban on breeding, marketing, and hand-rearing and supports rescue centers both materially and ideologically.

Mission & Vision
The Graupapageien Foundation aims to end the suffering of African grey parrots caused by wild capture, improper hand-rearing, and inadequate solitary keeping. It promotes species-appropriate group housing in spacious aviaries, provides educational work for owners and veterinarians, and demands binding minimum standards for breeding and keeping from legislators.
Target groups
The funding programs and advisory services are aimed at orphaned, surrendered, or distressed African grey parrots in rescue centers; current and prospective owners seeking to ensure species-appropriate group housing; veterinarians and behavioral scientists specializing in parrot medicine and behavioral research; as well as supporters and donors wishing to engage ideologically or financially in parrot conservation.
