About the funder
The Helmut Fischer Foundation is a non-profit private foundation based in Sindelfingen, established in 2003 by entrepreneur Helmut Fischer. It promotes scientific work in the classical STEM fields of physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, and medical technology, awards endowed professorships as well as doctoral and study scholarships, and supports innovative research projects. Furthermore, the foundation is interdisciplinarily engaged in the areas of art, culture, and education, promotes communication formats for science communication, and cooperates with schools, universities, and youth research centers.

With the founder’s legacy, the foundation aims to build a bridge between business and culture, natural and humanities sciences, thereby securing long-term social and technological progress.
Target groups
The funding programs are aimed at students (Bachelor's, Master's) and doctoral candidates in STEM subjects, scientists and research groups at universities and institutes, schools and educational institutions – especially in the STEM field – as well as early-career researchers (e.g., Jugend forscht) and mentoring projects. In addition, the foundation supports initiatives and institutions in the arts, culture, and education sectors that develop innovative formats for knowledge transfer.
