About the funder
The Hermann and Ingrid Frommhold Foundation for the Promotion of Early Music was established on July 16, 2013, as a non-independent foundation under the fiduciary administration of the New University Foundation Freiburg. The foundation's goal is the preservation and promotion of the historical performance practice of European music from the 16th to the 19th centuries. To this end, it provides financial support for the training of musicians on historical instruments, promotes the scholarly exploration of compositional works from these periods, as well as organology to ensure a learned approach to this European cultural heritage. The foundation operates on a non-profit basis in accordance with the provisions of the German Fiscal Code.

Mission & Vision
The foundation is committed to preserving the sonic authenticity and understanding of Early Music by promoting education on historical musical instruments from the 16th to 19th centuries, supporting research and teaching on compositional works of this period as well as organology, and initiating or financially supporting third-party or independent projects dedicated to the European cultural heritage of this era.
