About the funder

The Heyge Foundation is a non-profit private foundation, established on November 26, 2013, in Weimar by the German-American couple Dr. Lorna and Hermann Heyge. It operates with a small permanent team and develops as well as funds its own programs, including the Weimar Mentoring Program (WMP) for kindergartens and a senior program for people with dementia-related impairments. The foundation contributes up to €300,000 annually to the financing of its programs. Its capital originates from the initial endowment by the founders; the foundation is supervised by the Thuringian Ministry of the Interior and is a member of the Association of German Foundations.

Mission & Vision

Our primary concern is to enable joyful experiences through active singing and making music, especially for disadvantaged individuals – in particular children and seniors.

Target groups

The funding is aimed at socially disadvantaged children in kindergartens as well as seniors with dementia. In particular, the Heyge Foundation supports institutions and projects located in challenging socioeconomic or sociocultural environments, with regional focus areas in Thuringia while providing nationwide support.
