Jacobus Jahns-Stiftung

The Jacobus Jahns Foundation is a dependent ecclesiastical foundation of the Evangelical Lutheran St. Johannes parish in Braunschweig-Hondelage. Named after the church sexton Jacobus Jahns, who was fatally wounded in 1606, the foundation aims to preserve the 600-year-old church complex, the parish hall, and the parsonage grounds, as well as to promote vibrant parish activities. It supports the operation and maintenance of the church and parish hall, contributes to personnel costs within the church budget, and particularly promotes initiatives in the area of children and youth work as well as other parish projects.

The Jacobus Jahns Foundation is committed to preserving the historic ensemble of the church, parish hall, and parsonage grounds while simultaneously keeping the community space alive as a place of intergenerational encounter and inspiration. It promotes continuity and renewal within the St. Johannes Parish in Hondelage, specifically supports children’s and youth programs as well as special initiatives, and invites donors and volunteers to engage in the spirit of shared responsibility for the community.

The foundation's funding programs are primarily aimed at the Evangelical Lutheran parish of St. Johannes in Hondelage and Braunschweig. Support is provided to all who contribute to or benefit from parish life: church council, full-time and volunteer staff, children, youth, and families, as well as attendees of worship services, church events, and parish facilities. The foundation supports individuals and groups who help shape church life and wish to strengthen youth work.
