About the funder
The Jemal Nebez Foundation is a foundation established under German law and recognized as a non-profit organization, which preserves the scientific and journalistic legacy of the Kurdish scholar Jemal Nebez. It promotes cultural and scientific work in the service of the Kurds and Kurdistan through the establishment of a library and archive, the awarding of the Jemal Nebez Prize, the organization of events (open house day, annual meetings, online seminars), as well as publication and translation projects. The foundation also maintains a memorial site at the Parkfriedhof Neukölln in Berlin and organizes regular online general assemblies.

Mission & Vision
We see ourselves as an international foundation by Kurds for Kurds. Our mission is to preserve the life’s work of Jemal Nebez and to carry forward his intentions in a globalized world. Through documentation, publications, events, and awards, we aim to raise awareness of Kurdish culture and history as well as to promote cultural diversity and the sustainable development of Kurdish identity.
Target groups
The foundation is aimed at scholars, students, and researchers in the field of Kurdish studies, Kurds in the diaspora and Kurdistan, literary creators, as well as all those interested in Kurdish history, language, and culture. It supports individuals and groups implementing innovative projects to strengthen Kurdish heritage and its global visibility.
