About the funder
The Joachim Christian Römer Foundation was established in 2012 by Gabriela Römer to continue the life's work of her husband Joachim C. Römer, who passed away in 2011. It is organized as a non-profit private foundation and primarily supports the academic and professional education and training of engineers and related technical professions in the East Bavarian region. Furthermore, it supports applied research and projects in mechanical engineering and adjacent disciplines, awards scholarships and training grants, cooperates closely with universities of applied sciences and universities in Lower Bavaria, and places special emphasis on promoting women in technical professions.

The Joachim Christian Römer Foundation is committed to promoting education and further training in engineering and related technical professions, as well as advancing research projects in mechanical and plant engineering. It aims to strengthen the technical junior workforce, ensure equal opportunities—especially for women—and support regional development in the East Bavarian area, in order to sustainably secure the future viability of the engineering profession in Germany.
Target groups
The foundation's funding programs are aimed at students and graduates of technical disciplines (e.g., mechanical engineering, fluid technology) at universities and universities of applied sciences, participants in technician and master craftsman schools in the East Bavarian region, women seeking technical training or further education, as well as universities, state-recognized higher education institutions, and vocational training centers implementing infrastructure projects or scientific initiatives in mechanical and plant engineering.
