Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main is a public law foundation with legal capacity and one of the largest universities in Germany. It was founded in 1914 by citizens for citizens and has been operated as an autonomous foundation university since 2008. Goethe University conducts research and teaching at an international level in five faculties (including biosciences, economics, humanities) as well as numerous central institutions. Through its central scholarship service, it facilitates scholarships and funding opportunities in cooperation with ministries, foundations, and public as well as private funding bodies.
