About the funder
The non-profit Jürgen Ponto Foundation for the Promotion of Young Artists was established in 1977 by Ignes Ponto and Dresdner Bank and operates in Frankfurt am Main and Berlin. It is named after Jürgen Ponto, former Chairman of the Board of Dresdner Bank and dedicated supporter of young artists. With an endowment of approximately €11.3 million, the foundation supports highly talented emerging artists in the fields of music, literature, and visual arts. The support includes financial scholarships and awards (e.g., music prize of €60,000 or literature prize of up to €25,000), intellectual guidance, as well as the facilitation of concerts, readings, and exhibitions.

Mission & Vision
The Jürgen Ponto Foundation is committed to creating opportunities and providing a platform for young, highly talented artists at the beginning of their artistic careers. Through financial support in the form of scholarships and awards, as well as through collaborative guidance and facilitation of public performance and publication opportunities, the foundation contributes to the sustainable promotion of emerging artists and the strengthening of cultural diversity in Germany and beyond.
Target groups
The programs of the Jürgen Ponto Foundation for the Promotion of Young Artists are aimed at young, highly gifted artists who are at the beginning of their professional careers. This includes soloists, ensembles, and formations in the field of music, authors prior to the first publication of their book manuscript, as well as visual artists and art critics whose creative approaches and innovative ideas are not yet widely recognized. Self-applications are generally not possible; selection is made through expert juries and cooperation partners.
