Katarina Witt Stiftung

The Katarina Witt Foundation was established in 2005 by the two-time Olympic champion Katarina Witt as a non-profit limited liability company. The foundation supports projects nationwide in Germany and internationally aimed at improving the mobility of children and adolescents with physical disabilities. The focus lies on three funding areas: sports promotion, medical care, and disaster relief. Non-profit organizations, sports clubs, inclusive schools, kindergartens, and other projects are supported through the financing of specialized wheelchairs, prostheses, therapy services, and initial care measures. The Katarina Witt Foundation operates exclusively as a grant-making foundation and decides on applications in regular meetings of the foundation board, without providing operational services itself.

The mission of the Katarina Witt Foundation is to enable young people with physical disabilities to experience mobility, participation, and joy in life. Through targeted funding programs in the areas of sports, medical care, and disaster relief, the foundation creates sustainable initiatives that promote self-confidence, integration, and an active lifestyle.

Funding applications can be submitted by non-profit organizations, sports clubs, inclusive schools, kindergartens, and other institutions that develop and implement projects for children and young people with physical disabilities. The Katarina Witt Foundation targets initiatives with integrative and movement-oriented approaches that directly contribute to improving the mobility and independence of those affected.
