About the funder

The Catholic Foundation for the Promotion of Social Pedagogical Professionals in the Archdiocese of Hamburg was established in 2010 as a non-legal foundation under civil and canonical law. Its purpose is to recruit and support trainees and students in social pedagogical professions for Catholic daycare centers in Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, and Mecklenburg. The foundation awards financial scholarships (partial or full tuition reimbursement, monthly book allowance) and provides non-material support through seminars, exchange meetings, and a supraregional network. Additionally, it assists graduates in securing internship and employment placements in Catholic daycare centers to ensure the long-term availability of qualified professionals under church sponsorship.

Mission & Vision

The foundation is committed to addressing the shortage of skilled professionals in Catholic daycare centers by recruiting new talent for social pedagogical professions and supporting their education and training both morally and financially. It believes in the importance of high-quality early childhood education grounded in Christian responsibility and aims to support motivated trainees and students on their journey.

Target groups

Funding is provided for trainees training to become social pedagogical professionals (social pedagogical assistants, educators, curative education nurses) as well as students in part-time degree programs (e.g., Social Work). A prerequisite for admission is employment in a Catholic daycare center (for students at least 15 hours/week). Applicants may be Catholic or non-Catholic but must be employed in a Catholic institution. The foundation considers applicants from Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, and the Mecklenburg region.
