About the funder

The foundation "Kinder brauchen Musik – Stiftung für eine aktive musikalische Kindheit" was established in 2004 by Rolf and Monika Zuckowski in Hamburg. It promotes the active singing, making music, and composing by children, especially those from disadvantaged social backgrounds. With its own programs such as "Class Trips to Music" and financial support for externally initiated pilot projects, the foundation has invested around €700,000 since 2004 in accordance with its statutes and has reached more than 9,000 children.

Mission & Vision

The foundation aims to bring children the joy of active music-making, strengthen their personality, and promote social skills. It relies on integrative, holistic concepts that combine music with theater, play, and movement, thereby contributing to cultural participation and the breaking down of social barriers.

Target groups

Children of preschool and primary school age are supported, especially those from socially disadvantaged, inclusive, or intercultural backgrounds. In projects such as class trips, workshops, and support programs, teachers and educators who wish to implement musical offerings in daycare centers and schools also benefit.
