Kölner Stiftung Merten

Private foundation

About the funder

The Kölner Stiftung Merten is a legally recognized foundation under private law based in Cologne. It originated from a Cologne citizens' initiative in the post-war period, which acquired Schloss Merten in 1955 to provide local recreation opportunities for young families. After the association phase, the "Mertener Kreis e. V." association was transformed into the Kölner Stiftung Merten in 1998/1999. Since then, the foundation has supported integrative social projects aimed at improving communal coexistence in the Cologne area, funded by donations and the returns from its endowment assets. All activities are carried out on a voluntary basis.
