About the funder

The Kulturstiftung Kaiser Otto Magdeburg was founded on April 17, 2003, and is jointly supported by the state capital Magdeburg and the Stadtsparkasse MagdeBurg. Triggered by the great success of the Council of Europe exhibition "Otto the Great, Magdeburg and Europe" in 2001, personalities from culture, business, and politics came together to sustainably promote the cultural heritage of Otto the Great. The foundation awards the prestigious Kaiser Otto Prize and additionally supports projects in the fields of visual and performing arts, music, literature, theater, student life, as well as initiatives of the Magdeburg museums.
