About the funder

The Youth Department of the Burgenland State Government (Division 9 – EU, Society and Funding) supports Burgenland school classes and student groups from the 9th grade onwards on educational trips to institutions of the European Union and the Council of Europe. The aim of the EU school class funding is to provide young people with direct insights into European politics and decision-making processes, thereby strengthening their democratic participation and understanding of Europe. Funding is provided for trips to Brussels, Strasbourg, or Luxembourg, provided that at least one EU or Council of Europe institution is visited.

Mission & Vision

We promote cross-border educational trips to raise awareness among young people in Burgenland about European issues, deepen their understanding of democratic processes, and strengthen their motivation to actively participate in shaping Europe.

Target groups

The funding is aimed at Burgenland school classes and student groups from the 9th grade onwards (polytechnic schools, intermediate and higher-level schools). A prerequisite is a pedagogically supervised concept that integrates the relevance of European integration into the curriculum and involves the students in its development.
