The State Office for Nature, Environment, and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia (LANUV) is the central state authority within the portfolio of the Ministry for Environment, Agriculture, Nature Conservation, and Consumer Protection NRW. As a technical contact point for topics such as soil, industrial facilities, climate, circular economy, water monitoring, and nature conservation, it provides extensive technical information, forms, online services, and publications. LANUV advises the ministry, authorities, municipalities, companies, environmental organizations, and interested citizens, operates environmental and climate databases, and supports the implementation of environmental legal requirements.

Mission & Vision
We are committed to the protection and preservation of the natural foundations of life in North Rhine-Westphalia. Through research, monitoring, consultation, and the provision of expert information, we aim to make an evidence-based contribution to sustainable development and to support policy, administration, and the public in the fields of nature, environmental, and climate protection in a collaborative manner.
Target groups
Our services and funding programs are aimed at ministries, authorities, and municipalities in NRW, as well as companies, environmental and nature conservation organizations, scientific institutions, and interested citizens. We support all stakeholders who require expertise, data, and advice on issues related to nature and environmental protection law, climate adaptation, circular economy, and resource efficiency.
