The State Agency for Coastal Protection, National Park and Marine Conservation Schleswig-Holstein (LKN.SH) is a statewide institution of the state of Schleswig-Holstein and part of the Ministry for Energy Transition, Climate Protection, Environment and Nature. As a public authority, LKN.SH is responsible for the protection and maintenance of coastal areas, the administration and management of national parks, as well as marine conservation in the North and Baltic Seas off the coast of Schleswig-Holstein. In doing so, it coordinates coastal protection measures, monitors the condition of protected areas, and implements nature conservation regulations.

The LKN.SH is committed to permanently protecting the coasts of Schleswig-Holstein from erosion and flooding, preserving the national parks as natural recreational areas, and sustainably securing the marine habitat. Through professional excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration, natural living conditions are to be preserved while simultaneously balancing the needs of coastal communities and visitors.
