Landesstiftung "Hilfe für Mutter und Kind"

Public foundation

About the funder

The State Foundation "Help for Mother and Child" is a public foundation of the Free State of Bavaria within the portfolio of the State Ministry for Family, Labour and Social Affairs and part of the Bavaria Centre for Family and Social Affairs (ZBFS). It grants voluntary, non-enforceable financial benefits to pregnant women, large families (usually with three or more minor children), and single parents who find themselves in an acute emergency through no fault of their own and for whom statutory benefits are insufficient. The foundation finances its assistance through grants from the Federal Foundation "Mother and Child – Protection of Unborn Life," the Free State of Bavaria, the Catholic and Protestant Churches, the cities of Nuremberg and Ansbach, as well as from private donations.

Mission & Vision

The state foundation aims to provide swift and unbureaucratic self-help assistance to pregnant women and families who have fallen into hardship through no fault of their own, to alleviate their financial burden, and to create a sustainable foundation for a viable future. The individual needs are central to this effort in order to enable lasting solutions for the affected families.

Target groups

Funding is provided to pregnant women with a medical certificate and primary residence in Bavaria, large families (generally with at least three minor children living in the same household), and single parents with at least one child living in the same household. In exceptional cases, couples or families with fewer children (e.g., in the case of severe disability with a degree of disability of 50 or higher) may also be supported. A prerequisite is always an involuntary emergency situation that is not covered by other statutory benefits or assistance.
