About the funder
The German Foundation for Cultural Landscapes (brand name "Landschafft!") was founded in 2006 and is committed to the preservation and resource-compatible development of the culturally shaped rural landscape that has evolved over centuries. Economic, ecological, social, and cultural functions of rural areas are equally taken into account. The foundation implements its own projects and provides funding upon application by third parties to ensure an economically viable and sustainable use of the cultural landscape and to preserve the livelihoods of its inhabitants in the long term.

Mission & Vision
The aim of the German Foundation for Cultural Landscapes is to strengthen rural areas as places to live and work and to develop them on an equal footing with urban centers. Our commitment is to a sustainable and economically viable use of the cultural landscape that secures the livelihoods of the local population. The principle of equivalence of living conditions is guiding: We support models, networks, and dialogues that develop and implement solutions for structural change in rural regions.
Target groups
The funding and project offerings of the Deutsche Stiftung Kulturlandschaft are aimed at actors in rural areas, including farmers, landowners, nature conservation and agricultural associations, municipalities, companies, clubs and associations, as well as individual project sponsors. Projects that contribute to improving the economic, cultural, and ecological quality of rural areas are supported, as well as initiatives that strengthen production-integrated nature conservation, biodiversity, and regional identity.
