About the funder
The Leben mit HIV und Aids Foundation is a legally recognized and non-profit foundation under civil law based in Berlin. It was founded in 1997 by Hans Stoermer and Heinz Bergner and exclusively pursues charitable purposes for the benefit of people affected by HIV and AIDS. Within the scope of the work and mandate of ZIK-Zuhause im Kiez gGmbH, the foundation supports the improvement of living conditions for those affected through the acquisition, construction, modernization, and management of residential properties, expansion of care and support services, individual housing assistance (renovation, furnishing, rent arrears), and the establishment and maintenance of meeting places for those affected and their relatives. Furthermore, it promotes project-related equipment, vehicles, travel, and offers individual case assistance (e.g., energy costs, moving expenses, health costs). In the first 20 years, nearly one million euros were provided, about half of which was allocated to individual case assistance. The funds are primarily derived from rental income.
