About the funder
The Marco Rugieri Foundation was established in Bad Harzburg by Renate and Attilio Rugieri following the death of their son Marco, who passed away in 2017 at the age of 49 from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The foundation has been registered with the competent foundation authority in Braunschweig since November 5, 2018, and has been recognized as a non-profit organization by the Goslar tax office since November 26, 2018. It is dedicated to researching the causes of ALS, developing potential cures, and improving the care of those affected. Its activities include grants to non-profit care facilities, the awarding of research contracts and scholarships, as well as financial support for scientific events and publications.
