About the funder

The Maria-Seltmann Foundation was established on December 5, 1993, on the 90th birthday of the factory owner's widow Maria Seltmann in Weiden i.d. OPf. Since then, the foundation has exclusively supported charitable and benevolent causes in Weiden and the surrounding area with the endowed million-euro capital. The focus areas are elderly care and senior citizen work (including the Maria-Seltmann-Haus as a meeting place), art and culture (support for art associations, literature and music events), science, research and education (foundation professorship and investment projects at HAW Amberg-Weiden), as well as assistance for people in special distress (e.g., the Blind Association, Christmas campaigns, DONUM VITAE). Since January 1994, over €4.8 million in disbursements have flowed into the region, while the principal capital has been preserved and increased. The foundation board has consisted of Ludwig Zitzmann and Stefan Rögner since 1996.
