About the funder

The Ministry of Education and Culture of Saarland is the highest state authority responsible for all matters of education and cultural policy. It oversees the school and training systems from early childhood education in daycares through general and vocational schools up to the European School, designs curricula and examination procedures, and supports libraries, educational servers, and professional development opportunities for teachers. In the cultural sector, the Ministry supports institutions and projects in music, theater, visual arts, film, museums, and popular culture, promotes ensembles and emerging talents, maintains international cultural relations, and operates the cultural portal as a central information and funding platform.

Mission & Vision

Our mission is to provide all people living in Saarland with high-quality educational and cultural opportunities and to promote equal opportunities. We create the framework conditions for a future-oriented educational landscape – from daycare centers to universities – while simultaneously strengthening cultural diversity and creativity in the region. In doing so, we work in partnership with schools, social organizations, cultural institutions, and stakeholders to ensure educational success and cultural participation for everyone.

Target groups

The target group of the Ministry includes children and young people, parents, teachers, educators, and educational institutions in Saarland, as well as cultural actors, artists, cultural associations, libraries, and museums. Furthermore, the offer is aimed at municipal and state institutions active in the fields of early childhood education, school education, adult education, and cultural promotion.
