The Ministry for Climate Protection, Agriculture, Rural Areas and Environment Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is the highest state authority responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of state policies in the areas of climate protection, sustainable agriculture and forestry, rural development, as well as environmental and nature conservation. It coordinates funding programs (e.g., extensification guidelines), advises agricultural enterprises, implements EU legal requirements, and promotes organic farming (“Eco-Competence M-V 2030”). The goal is the conservation of resources such as water, soil, and air, the preservation of biodiversity, and the strengthening of the regional value chain from primary production to marketing.

The Ministry strives for a sustainable balance between ecological, economic, and social concerns in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Its goal is to advance climate protection, promote sustainable agriculture, develop rural areas, and safeguard the natural environment. The funding and advisory services of the Ministry are primarily aimed at farmers, agricultural enterprises of all sizes, forestry and fisheries sectors, as well as municipal actors in rural areas. Additionally, research institutions, environmental and nature conservation organizations, marketing organizations, and private initiatives seeking to implement sustainable projects in the fields of climate protection, organic farming, rural development, and nature conservation also benefit.
