The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Areas, Europe and Consumer Protection of the State of Schleswig-Holstein is the highest state authority for agricultural economy, rural development, European agricultural funding, and consumer affairs. Based in Kiel, it is responsible for shaping and implementing agricultural and consumer policies, initiating dialogue processes such as "Future of Agriculture," and publishing position papers (e.g., "Agriculture 2040"). It promotes sustainable projects, supports agricultural enterprises regarding framework conditions, and represents Schleswig-Holstein in national and European committees.

The Ministry is committed to an ecologically, economically, and socially sustainable agriculture in Schleswig-Holstein, strengthens rural areas, makes optimal use of European funding and legal frameworks, and protects consumers. The funding programs and activities are primarily aimed at agricultural enterprises, associations and organizations in the agricultural and food sectors, municipalities, as well as civil society actors in rural areas. In addition, consumers benefit from information and protection services that promote transparency and responsible consumption behavior.
