Naturschutzstiftung des Landkreises Harburg
About the funder
The Nature Conservation Foundation of the Harburg District (NLH) was established in 1998 by the district council of Harburg. It is a legally recognized foundation under civil law, serves exclusively charitable purposes, and implements its own measures for the development of nature and landscape within the district area. Furthermore, it supports third-party nature conservation projects based on established funding principles. The foundation does not assume any official regulatory duties but complements official nature conservation by providing financial resources and organizational initiatives in an unbureaucratic manner.

Mission & Vision
The Nature Conservation Foundation of the Harburg District is committed to the preservation, promotion, and restoration of valuable habitats in the naturally characterized areas of marsh, geest, and moor. It aims to enhance the performance of the natural ecosystem, protect rare species, and inspire the public for nature conservation through public relations and joint activities such as hikes or bike tours. The foundation is financed by the proceeds from its endowment capital as well as donations and grants, and seeks to actively involve citizens, associations, and individuals in nature conservation.
Target groups
Recognized nature conservation associations, non-registered initiatives, and individuals with projects and measures implemented within the district of Harburg are eligible for funding. External projects must have a sustainable impact on the natural environment and landscape, serve the protection of native animal and plant species, and promote habitat connectivity. A personal contribution from applicants is desirable and can be provided through in-kind services or co-financing from other funders.
