About the funder
Point Alpha Foundation is a non-profit foundation under civil law, established on January 1, 2008. Its purpose is the maintenance, preservation, and development of the Point Alpha memorial site as a place of remembrance of the German division as well as a documentation and research center on the Cold War in Europe. The foundation's capital comes from the federal government, the states of Hesse and Thuringia, the districts of Fulda and Wartburgkreis, and the municipalities of Geisa and Rasdorf. The foundation is supported in terms of content and projects by the Friends Association of the Point Alpha Memorial.

Mission & Vision
The Point Alpha Foundation is committed to the preservation and enhancement of the Point Alpha memorial site as a place of learning and remembrance. Its goal is to convey the history of the German division and the Cold War through continuous educational and research activities. Particular emphasis is placed on educating younger generations about everyday life under real socialism, strengthening democratic values, and fostering an international perspective on non-violent resistance in Central and Eastern Europe.
