Renate Gehring-Stiftung

Private foundation

About the funder

The Renate Gehring Foundation was established in 1995 by entrepreneur Werner Gehring in memory of his late wife Renate. As a legally recognized foundation under civil law based in Gütersloh, it promotes charitable and benevolent assistance for seniors, young people, and single parents in the city of Gütersloh and its surrounding area. Older individuals receive support to maintain social and interpersonal contacts and to preserve their independence. Socially disadvantaged children and adolescents are supported through integrative measures at schools, clubs, or organizations. A particular focus is placed on assisting single parents, for example through two annual recreational retreats for families with children and straightforward individual aid. Over the past 25 years, more than €1.3 million from the foundation’s income has been allocated to foundation purposes.

Mission & Vision

The aim of the Renate Gehring Foundation is to sustainably improve the living conditions of needy seniors, young people, and single parents. Public responsibilities are not to be replaced but rather complemented in the areas of elderly and youth welfare. Through financial assistance and project funding, the foundation strengthens the independence, self-reliance, and participation of its target groups.

Target groups

The foundation targets three main groups in the area of the city of Gütersloh and its surroundings: seniors who need support in maintaining social contacts and their independence; children and adolescents from socially disadvantaged backgrounds who are supported through integrative measures (e.g., violence prevention, nature and sports projects); single mothers and fathers who are offered recreational holidays for themselves and their children as well as uncomplicated individual assistance.
