About the funder
The Robert Voigt Foundation is an independent private law foundation based in Gelsenkirchen. It was established on July 26, 2000, by Beatrice and Lars Baumgürtel, inspired by their commitment since 1995 to the Carrington Heights Primary School in Durban, South Africa. The foundation supports educational and recreational facilities such as kindergartens, playgrounds, schools, and universities, as well as the construction of sports and play facilities. Notable projects include: Consol Theater Gelsenkirchen, Kinderzirkus Pinocchio, Stimme der Straßenkids, aGEnda21 KreativWerkstatt.

Mission & Vision
Education is a necessary foundation for all citizens of a society to participate in its development. The task and goal of the foundation is the training and promotion of the education and upbringing of children and young people who, due to their background and/or life circumstances, do not have the opportunity for vocational preparatory training or have correspondingly limited chances for integration into society.
Target groups
Children and young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, particularly those with a migration background, from educationally disadvantaged groups, as well as street children. The geographical focus is on Germany (with an emphasis on North Rhine-Westphalia and Saxony-Anhalt) and on developing countries (South Africa). Eligible to apply are non-profit organizations such as associations and initiatives; applications can be submitted informally at any time by mail, email, or telephone.
