About the funder

The Rüm Hart – Foundation of the Janssen Family was established in 2017 in Hamburg by Dirk and Andrea Janssen together with their children. It is a legally recognized foundation under civil law dedicated to the promotion of environmental, nature, species, and animal protection as well as related science and research. The foundation implements its own projects – such as the reintroduction of endangered species, habitat restoration, public relations, and scholarship awards – and supports local initiatives and collaborations with conservation organizations, scientific institutions, as well as public and private partners.

Mission & Vision

Rüm Hart (Frisian: "broad heart, clear horizon") stands for the conviction that local action addresses global environmental issues. The foundation aims to demonstrate how even small commitments can promote the preservation of the natural foundations of life for humans, animals, and plants. Voluntary engagement and economical use of resources ensure that every euro flows directly into nature conservation projects.

Target groups

The foundation's funding programs are aimed at individuals and local initiatives in environmental, nature, and species conservation; nature conservation organizations and public bodies; scientific institutions and research projects; educational institutions (e.g., schools, sports clubs) as well as tax-privileged public law entities and other non-profit organizations.
