About the funder
The Schöpflin Foundation was established in 2001 by Hans Schöpflin together with his siblings Albert Schöpflin and Heidi Junghanss as a foundation under civil law. Its operational facilities in Lörrach include Villa Schöpflin (addiction prevention), Werkraum Schöpflin (cultural and event venue), Schöpflin School (innovative educational institution), and the open socio-cultural space FABRIC. In Berlin, it operates Publix, a house for journalism and the public sphere. Furthermore, the foundation supports civil society organizations, social enterprises, and journalistic initiatives across Europe.

Mission & Vision
The Schöpflin Foundation promotes critical awareness, strengthens a vibrant democracy, and advocates for a diverse, sustainable society. It supports experimental approaches and new ideas to develop solutions for major societal challenges and is philanthropically committed to laying the groundwork for a better future for young and upcoming generations.
Target groups
Civil society organizations, social enterprises, educational and cultural initiatives, as well as public-interest media in Germany and Europe are supported. The focus is on actors who contribute to democracy, social participation, and ecological sustainability through entrepreneurial thinking, innovative concepts, and collaborative partnerships.
