Seiffen (Spielzeugdorf Erzgebirge)

Municipality/Community

About the funder

The municipality of Kurort Seiffen, widely known as the Toy Village of the Ore Mountains, is a state-recognized spa town located on the ridge of the Ore Mountains (650–700 m above sea level). Seiffen combines a rich tradition of woodcraft with a comprehensive range of tourist offerings: at its center is the Ore Mountain Toy Museum, complemented by the open-air museum featuring historic buildings and a turning lathe for wooden rings. The late Baroque mining church from 1776 shapes the town’s appearance and serves as a venue for concerts and church services. In demonstration workshops and manufactories, typical Seiffen folk art items such as smoking men, nutcrackers, and pyramids are produced. Year-round, mining parades, holiday games, hikes, and cultural highlights take place.
