About the funder
Section VI – Family and Youth at the Federal Chancellery is responsible for Austrian family and youth policy. It establishes legal, financial, and advisory frameworks for approximately 1,125,000 families with children across all life stages, promotes pilot projects relevant to family policy, and assumes central coordination of federal youth funding for youth organizations, initiatives, and projects. In 2024, around 400 family and partner counseling centers were supported with approximately 353,000 counseling hours and 524,000 counseling sessions.

Mission & Vision
Our mission is to sustainably enhance the quality of life for families and youth in Austria. Through evidence-based measures, needs-oriented funding instruments, and comprehensive counseling, we create equal opportunities, promote social participation, and support youth engagement as well as the equitable balance of family and work.
Target groups
Section VI is aimed at families with children of all ages, non-profit family and youth counseling centers, as well as youth organizations and initiatives. It supports professionals, parents, children and adolescents, as well as sponsoring organizations in the fields of child and youth welfare, family counseling, child protection, and family policy innovation.
