About the funder

Section IV: Arts and Culture in the Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport is responsible for the conception, administration, and allocation of state funding in the arts and culture sector. This includes, in particular, the development, production, and distribution of innovative film projects (feature, documentary, animation, and experimental films), targeted support for emerging filmmakers through scholarships and special programs, support for film cultural institutions such as film festivals, arthouse cinemas, and archives, as well as the preservation of the audiovisual heritage. The section represents Austria in international bodies (Creative Europe/EU, Eurimages/Council of Europe) and participates in film industry agreements.

Mission & Vision

Section IV: Arts and Culture aims to strengthen artistic diversity and innovation in Austria. Through transparent funding procedures, tailored programs, and international cooperation, it creates the framework conditions under which artists and cultural practitioners can realize their projects and contribute to the country's cultural heritage.

Target groups

Eligible to apply are filmmakers and film producers (individuals and groups), film festivals, arthouse cinemas and film cultural institutions, institutions in the arts and cultural sector (museums, archives, public libraries, umbrella organizations) as well as companies whose involvement is essential for the implementation of an innovative project.
