About the funder

The Bürgerhospital Kaiserslautern Foundation was established in 1176 by Emperor Frederick I Barbarossa and is today one of the oldest and wealthiest foundations in the city. It holds 1,077 hereditary building rights, extensive rental income, and liquid reserves. In accordance with its statutes, it supports projects in the fields of youth welfare, elderly care and nursing, public health, as well as sports promotion (excluding competitive and elite sports). Grants are awarded exclusively to cover material costs. Applications are decided upon by the Hospital Committee, which consists of 16 members and meets three to four times a year.

Mission & Vision

"Helping is our strength." Our goal is to sustainably improve the quality of life for the people of Kaiserslautern. We support initiatives and organizations dedicated to children, youth, the elderly, and citizens in need, as well as sports and health projects. In doing so, we emphasize regional impact and the responsible use of our resources.

Target groups

Eligible to apply are non-profit associations and organizations based or with a project focus in Kaiserslautern, as well as elderly and needy individuals. Funding is aimed at initiatives that primarily benefit the citizens of the city and mainly cover material costs. From special reserves, needy seniors may receive individual grants.
