Stiftung CULTOPIA
About the funder
The CULTOPIA Foundation was established in 2020 by the Cologne association Kunst hilft geben e.V. and is recognized by the Cologne-Altstadt tax office as a non-profit, charitable foundation ("housing for the homeless"). Using the foundation's assets, it acquires real estate in the Cologne area to create affordable housing for people who have little chance on the regular housing market. Currently, it operates four shared apartments ("Casa Colonia piccola I–IV") and supports around 50 formerly homeless individuals, including women with experiences of violence, young refugees, and single parents. Its flagship project "Casa Colonia Grande" includes up to 30 publicly subsidized apartments, a cultural café, community rooms, and an emergency clinic for people without health insurance.
