Stiftung De Hun‘nenhoff
About the funder
The De Hun’nenhoff Foundation operates a 50,000 m² sanctuary in the Lüneburg Heath near Schneverdingen, primarily caring for animals with physical disabilities – especially handicapped dogs in wheelchairs. Since 2006, over 150 animals have been taken in, including dogs, cats, horses, poultry, and small animals. Care is provided by a full-time team and around 40 volunteers. The foundation is funded exclusively through donations, sponsorships, and its endowment capital, and does not accept public subsidies.

Mission & Vision
"Animal welfare is education in humanity." The De Hun’nenhoff Foundation focuses on the life and well-being of disadvantaged animals and aims to raise awareness through education, counseling, rehabilitation, and individual care that handicapped animals are not only lovable but also worth living.
Target groups
Our services are aimed at owners of dogs and cats with physical disabilities who seek professional advice, rehabilitation, or specialized boarding (Rolliday Inn); volunteer dog walkers who wish to walk handicapped dogs; donors and sponsors who support the farm’s independent operations through monetary or in-kind donations; as well as veterinarians and physiotherapists who collaborate within the framework of rehabilitation measures.
